If you tried, you couldn't make up a story this good: legally blind kid grows up in a trailer home in rural Maine. A guitar prodigy, he tours with the family band starting at age 8, wins local and regional competitions, moves to Nashville, ends up dropping jaws all over town, doing sessions with Ricky Skaggs, Toby Keith, Randy Travis, Janie Fricke and many more, and gets signed by Steve Vai when his manager leaves a demo snippet on Steve's voicemail box. But indeed, this is true the story of Johnny Hiland.

The Johnny Hiland Band has headlined numerous high profile concerts and clubs in the US and internationally in Italy, Japan, Canada, England, Italy and Germany. Johnny has been teaching Master Classes at various schools in the US ranging from Berkley School of Music in Boston to Musicians Institute in California and the prestigious, Academy of Contemporary Music in England. in 2006, PRS Guitars released the Johnny Hiland Signature model guitar.

Johnny’s career has been covered in numerous trade magazines and in local press throughout the US and internationally including Canada, Italy, France, Germany and Japan. Johnny’s performance schedule has been complete with radio and television interviews and performances as well as high profile live stage performances. His credits include nationally syndicated, NPR’s Weekend Edition, NPR’s Garrison Keillor show, two television interview performances on Fox National News Weekend Update and two nationally syndicated performances in Canada for the Big Breakfast show. Additionally he has done several local NPR interview/ performances throughout the US. In Feb.07 Johnny was featured on a NBC Channel 4 special in Nashville titled Nashville Music and More.
